You are an INFP!

As an INFP, you are Intraverted, iNtuative, Feeling , Perceiving.
This makes your primary focus on Introverted Feeling with Extraverted Intuition.

This is defined as a NF personality, which is part of Carl Jung's Idealist (Identity Seeking) type, and more specifically the Healers or Idealist

As a weblogger, you have wonderful words to express your feelings because of your idealism. Because you don't like conflict, you may be likely to make one list of links and leave it for a long time without updating for fear of offending.

INFP-very much me! =) Never thought of myself as an idealist before though heh!
Larisa on June 6, 2002 03:22 PM
This is certainly a new take on the Myers-Briggs/Kiersey Temperament Sorter... It gave me the same results, though. Heh.
Abiku on June 6, 2002 03:45 PM
I have learned to be more ruthless with my blog links list... If I don't enjoy a site over a period of time, it's a goner... but that goes against my grain.
Desert Mermaid on June 6, 2002 03:56 PM
each time i take the meyers-briggs, i get the same thing-- INFP-- guess it must be me!

INFP.. this all sounds so retarded, or am i thinking 'high school'? eh, kinda weak either way.
Timm on June 7, 2002 12:31 PM
Pretty much what the Meyers-Briggs test has always said. Though the combination of ideas to make a shorter quiz is not always felicitous.
dargie on June 7, 2002 12:51 PM
Pretty much the same as other personality tests I've taken (except for the I)
Jason on June 7, 2002 11:02 PM

so many bloggers are infp... we're going to take over the PLANET!
Cecily on June 9, 2002 09:28 PM
this is close to my actual personality type, INFJ :) some jerk once told me "you could be an INFP if you wanted to be", as if the Judgemental bit made me somehow inferior to his blessed Perceiving. HA.

one more infp

I do love words, I'm a freelance writer. It's also true about my linkbacks and marking anyone as a favourite. I always try to figure out who I might leave out and how not to offend anyone. :)

INFP - is this like, the standard blogger personality? :)

It just fits!
Meri on June 12, 2002 07:00 PM
ermm... oops. did I accidentally tell a lie somewhere in the test? I usually come out as an INFJ... hmmm... however, it was close to accurate - not suprisingly, about 75% accurate!! :o)

Okay, any other INFPs out there with creative ADD? (Thought INFPs made up only 1% of the pop? Seems they're all HERE!)
krsteen1 on August 1, 2002 06:23 AM
Another INFP checking in. Pretty accurate, although I could also be an ISFP depending on my mood when I take one of these tests. I tend to fall right in the middle of these two.
tuesday's child on August 1, 2002 11:05 AM
Well, these days I waffle on the edge between INFP and ENFP, but the rest is pretty darn accurate. I've even had the full Myers-Briggs test and got the same answer. Don't always agree completely with the descriptions, but the categorization seems pretty apt.
Jonathan on August 2, 2002 06:27 AM
I'm not really afraid of offending people.. But the rest is pretty good. I like being put in a box. :)
Sam on August 9, 2002 12:23 AM
I go between INFP and INFJ . . . but both are pretty accurate. I think I'm a titch more of an INFP though :)
Christine on August 9, 2002 06:00 PM
Hm. Seems to fit me, but I don't know how much I like being defined by just four letters. Although I'd rather be defined by "What Personality Type Are You?" than by "What Type Of Cream Cheese Are You?"
Hana on August 11, 2002 09:07 AM
I couldn't have said it better myself!
JustJewels on August 12, 2002 11:29 AM

Sampath Parthasarathy on August 12, 2002 08:25 PM
baby, I am way too idealist for this world... (sometimes you just got to hide it a tad on the blog)

Andy on August 27, 2002 07:02 PM
No surprise here... ;0) does anyone else find it fascinating that the INFP profiles are amazingly accurate? sometimes it can be little frightening, that a webpage knows your heart and soul...

jennifer on September 2, 2002 09:50 PM
It fits me somewhat well, although I found myself wanting to use answers from the other column sometimes. Perhaps that is because I am all things to all people...
aaron on September 3, 2002 01:35 PM
Yup, pretty much explains me to the T
Jessica on September 4, 2002 05:46 PM
every way...I'm always the INFP...pure...no deviation. I love it! Thank God for this test and how it has helped me to understand me.
Cindy on September 5, 2002 06:44 PM
I thought I was the only INFP .... IoI
Jorggy on September 6, 2002 02:51 PM
GAR!!! Sorry, but this is the worst kind of Jungian test you could ever take. One of my values has violated, and as an INFP I must dig in my heels and protest in an uncharacteristically ESTJ fashion (dumbstupid business suit). Please don't take this test for granted. It's... evil, to quote Will.
Linc on September 9, 2002 11:52 PM
i used to test out as ENFP in college and now I am always INFP. College made me introverted I tell ya!
galatea on September 10, 2002 10:10 PM
I know I'm definitely INFP. With dominant feeling and secondary intuitive functions there is no way I can be any other type, even though I have tested out as INFJ or INTP. Sometimes profiles of ENFP also describe me. It's the theory behind the MBTI which allows me to see my own type even though profiles have come close to describing my nature. I may even pretend to be one type, but deep down inside, I know that that no one can change his or her type. He/She just moves toward the higher self. And I think that is where the confusion occurs when people believe that they are possibly 2 or 3 types. I suppose if I can't recognize my own type then other people may be of help in helping me find my type. I_F_ is how I see myself. IN_ _ is how others see me. I_ _ P is the way I deal with people and _NF_ is my core self.
Thomas Vea on September 11, 2002 04:01 AM
I am loyal, and I do hate conflict.
Phoe on September 11, 2002 07:33 PM
Hey to INFP's from the Land of Artichokes! These tests are always so irresistable, even though they are a bit reductive.
ArtichokeHeart on September 13, 2002 09:59 PM
I am so much more than people think i am. Lots of the time i feel like i am being taken advantage of. i love my teacher very very much, and i hope he knows that he means the world to me. but i think i am sort of an extraverted introvert, as in sometimes i will feel comfortable approaching people, even w/ my opinions. And i do care what i look like most of the time. JOHN LENNON LIVES ON!!!!!!! -kisa
Carlisa Schnoor on September 14, 2002 10:12 PM
I usually test as an INFP. The type fits me, but doesn't take into account that no matter how idealistic I am, there is a healthy realist and practical streak in me that demands to be satisfied.
cocokat on September 22, 2002 10:38 PM
wow. I got the same results here without having to answer 56 million questions like I did on the myers-briggs test...yipee

INFP - Absolutely. Absolutely. :) Well, except for the bit about not updating my links.
Madolyn on October 5, 2002 01:18 PM
have taken the test, and it's so true - I'm definitely INFP. one main point about INFP that IS really me is how I always keep searching & searching for 'deepest' stuff, for instead, instead of caring about routine daily lives, work, papers, essay, and stuff, I always find myself searching the meaning of my existence, life, and God (and yes, I'm a Christian) :) I always think and think 'deeply' , and try to keep options open. problem: sometimes got taken advantage by other people, since they know that I am soo hard to say "no" to people :(
niki on October 8, 2002 01:13 AM

Jessie on December 27, 2002 11:52 PM
I think it's really interesting that INFP's comprise 2% of the population, but they seem to dominate the online presence. I wonder if there's something about the nature of blogging that appeals to these personality types.

There seems to be a propondance of NP's on this web sight. this doesn't surpise me sence most NP's, whether nf or nt, want to understand why they are differn't from most people. I think that Infp's are piticularly drawn to personatiy test's because they are very much into self-actualization and love the aninmity of the internet. They enjoy tring to find out who they are with a passion that many of the other types do not have, and personality tests are one tool in that personal quest for many infp's.

hmm...I gather that each of us has a core that is one or the other. But I found that I fit both fairly evenly. I tried and tried but I can't seem to get around the fact that I seem to have a tendency in one or two areas of each choice. I wonder if I come back to this test a week or month from now if I'll get the same or a different answer.

sunfleur1 on March 24, 2003 01:43 PM
As an INFP I have always felt this deep well of passion that is very difficult to articulate. For me that passion mostly relates to art, music, and literature. but I have also found satisfying intellectual stimulation in the fields of Linguistics and Philosophy, though I tend to be a post-structuralist, which some may not regard as a valid philosophy. I hate confrontations, but have developed some strategies for dealing with it, but I have hardly been able to deal with criticism. I can still be debilitated by it. That cuases lots of problems I would be happy to be rid of.
Mark W. on March 24, 2003 03:47 PM
Yeah, it fits, for the most part, although *E*NFP would be more accurate - I'm intuitive, feeling, and percieving, but I sure don't make a secret of it. :)

You know, this is me all the way---but I realize that I didn't do anything to enhance my type or make myself this way. I have these gifts in my personality, but the fact that they're gifts implies that they were given by a Giver. He was really creative to make all these different personalities...can you think of even one personality to add to these ones?

Melissa on April 15, 2003 02:31 PM

eiaboca on April 16, 2003 02:55 PM
recently i took an extensive personality test based on the same format, and i received the same result. i am not saying this system is accurate, but simply that it is good at keeping its lies straight.
anthony on April 19, 2003 02:59 PM
I love how INFP's are the most represented of all personality types...it shows that we are naturally curious about what makes us who we are...any INFP I've ever encountered love the topics of psychology, sociology, philosophy, spirituality, etc. I also believe that most, if not all, INFP's struggle with their own identity...they've always felt somewhat out of place...strange...different...etc. We always are searching for why this is so...hence our tendency to take personality tests, read horoscopes, analyze, analyze, analyze.

I had to take the MBTI before getting married and one thing that really fit, based on the descriptions I had of the personality type back then, was that I make crazy-long to-do lists and still never get anything done. Still doing it today, in fact, knowing full well that I'm just too tired to do anything.

I have known for some time my type as INFP and your test concurred. I have concern both for people and all creatures great and small AND a psycho-magnetic repulsion from the same. The solution? Do a good deed! Thus striking a blow against man's inhumanity to man. And ah yes! The links! That's me alright! Wouldn't want to offend anyone. I think I'll change them now just to be different! It's true, I'm a word artist. I give my friends nicknames by flipping their initials or names around (example: Tony is Why Not?) I'm into character development and my intuition spawns a philosophical bent. I'm happy to have found the 1% of us on the planet right here on this page. Best Regards, PeeJay

Some seem to be forgetting this is not a special club you are born into, nor is it what you are, but a chance to realize faults and develop both sides. Honestly, the amount of self obsession here makes me embarassed to fall into this category
Lee on October 11, 2003 05:51 AM
lol @ Lee, I agree on the amount of self-obsession found in this category. I think it comes from a lack of understanding about the personality types, and how 'good' INFP sounds.

james on January 18, 2004 10:43 AM
Kinda sort of accurate, but I don't think I'm a pleaser. Also, E and I change for me, depending on my mood. Right now, I've had some red wine, chocolate, and green tea, so I'm very mellow. Ah.
Bob on January 18, 2004 11:46 AM
To some extent, this is a pretty accurate discription of me, in a Stuart Smalley sort of way. After all, I'm an anonymous poet, so I must be introverted and feeling. How I keep ending up in places where people are trying to kill each other with a personality type like this is beyond me, though.
Mr. E. on January 18, 2004 12:54 PM
This is me, completely and utterly me. A hopeless romantic idealist, consumed with words and feelings. [Gah, I sound like a sap.]

I am so much the dreamer. Often at work I feel irritated when someone interrupts me and I'm lost ikn a song on the radio or something. I quite often invented characters in television shows or movies I watched growing up for me to play. I would watch the shows and then develop my character mentally as I was watching. Sounds kinda weird, huh? I also had a squirrel as my imaginary freind.

I'm a Texas INFP. I've been searching all my life for people like me and some where to fit in. Point me in the right direction and I'll be there in a heartbeat. I have novelettes instead of blogs on my website. Do novelettes count?

I would say the comment about words to express feelings fits me well. However, the idea about not changing links as to not put a ripple in the water just isn't me. I'd change them as I saw fit, not as to whether or not it offended someone.
tracie on September 10, 2004 02:15 PM
It'd be nice to have a score sheet. I fit a lot of them almost equally.

A native New Jerseyan INFP living in Utah, lots of what I read on INFP really vibes with me. Im in a relationship with someone who is a TJ, so it compelled me to research on our personalities and how to resolve our differences. Whew! It will be nice to meet some other INFP folks here.

I have taken lots of versions of the MBTI and always come up as INFP. I've noticed something else: a lot of people with depression happen to be INFP. (Including me.) Anyone notice this?
Aurora on April 9, 2005 11:19 AM
Wow quite true! ;)
Ting on April 16, 2005 03:09 AM

Chelsea on May 8, 2005 06:25 AM
are you trying to get all the INFP's in the world to come together? I'm one as well! It is alost scary how much it sounds like me.
Laura E. on May 9, 2005 05:26 AM
It's Me! I enjoy having fun, but not being in the spotlight. I am also a very intuitive and a nice person. This is me exactly and it hasn't changed since the last time I took the test 3 years ago.
Errin on May 10, 2005 10:55 AM
So, how do INFPs deal with their depression? I've noticed this in myself too, ever since I have been young. I have a lot of thing about myself that I know I could fix if I just tried harder...but, I don't think that that is quite the answer...any ideas?

Elle on May 15, 2005 12:35 PM
INFPs are feelers above all else...remember the saying "Life is a comedy for people who think, and life is a tragedy for people who feel". If you're NOT depressed a bit by what's going on in the world today, then chances are you're not really an INFP.
Stu on May 16, 2005 09:51 PM

I don't know whether I am delighted or disappointed that I'm in the majority. I rise above my introversion in Sales and Relationships. It took/takes conscious thought and hard work though. I feel deeply. I am comfortable in my manhood, but it was awkward growing into it because of these emo/intuitive issues. I am currently struggling with defining ideals and values. What up?
the artist formerly known as Rob Baker on July 12, 2005 05:50 PM
Ah, this is where we all are! Rather than there being many of us (statistically there aren't) I think we just congregate because we feel so isolated in society. There really are very few of us in the world and even fewer of us are men. Sometimes I feel very lost but it is also a certain rush to be INFP in life! Learning to be a swan now...

I took two tests, one more thorough than this one, to find my personality type, and they both resulted in my being a INFP personality. I found almost all of the qualities in this type to fit me very well. It made me feel both "known and recognized" and yet a bit "transparent", which were two feelings that were comforting and disconcerting, respectively.

INFP, so very very true. I also find it terribly amusing that for such a supposedly small % of the people we seem to dominate the internet. Or at least the talky bits.

kirsty on February 2, 2006 11:30 AM
They say INFPs are constantly looking for who they are. Yeeeeah, probably why I've taken so many of these damg tests. Then of course when I do find one that seems to match, I hate being labeled so then I try and match a different personality. Which again fits INFPs trying to break the labels people put on them. But this seems pretty accurate, except I enjoy conflict. May just be a bit of INTP in me (though I've originally have tested as INTJ).

My Bloginality is INFP for those of you who want to come out of your hidey holes and actually communicate with someone equally idealistic and caring. There's still some of us left and that makes my optimism soar.
Ursina on April 6, 2006 01:47 PM
I cannot believe how well this describes me. I feel like I finally "fit in" somewhere! And I finally understand why I get angry when people do not adhere to my "values" - but I am easygoing at all other times. Too bad America values Extroverts over introverts, eh? Where ARE all u INFPs?!? I need to talk about LIFE with someone! Anyone know compatibility b/w the different types? For instance, my husband is ISTJ and I wonder if we may clash in some ways. He is very neat, and I... I am not.
Erica on April 7, 2006 09:10 PM
INFP... however, this sort of things is really more accurate with more questions, to balance out how introverted/extroverted, intuitive/logical, thinking/feeling, judging/perceptive you are. Very few people really 'fit' their mold with such rigidity.

Well its great to find out my type and to see all of my type buddies and buddetts. I believe I fit my type exactly. It is interesting to see of the 3500 respondents that the vast majority are infp. This I believe is because this type is more difficult for us toget a sense of who we are as aposed to the other types. This therefore leads to a life long search for us to try and understand ourselves and there for more interest us using testing to resolve the conflict.

I almost revel in the pain. That doesn't make sense. I go there easily. I'm affected. So affected. Things are beautiful, things are magical, things are so very wrong, things are painful in a most unbearable way. It's really rarely a middle ground with me. And sometimes, quite often, I'm overcome with the lonliness of it all, overcome to the point of desperation. How can I live in this world? Why am I so intense? To try to convince myself that there's no real satisfaction for one so impossible to comfort, so impossible to pacify, and yet so full to the brim with a deep, poingnant yearning...how can I not continue to HOPE! HOPE! If only I could find the proper connection! Such a quest it is. I almost think it's meant to be nearly impossible to find a connection as deep as I seek, because if it was easy to come across, it would be too magical. Dramatic. Oh I know. The small rational piece of me cannot believe, and is ashamed of the other 95% of me. This is me. I want to revel all day everyday. I want to seek out wonder and fullfillment. Yearning, yearning, disappointment so severe. My life is a series of "making it through the moment of blandness." I'm not sure what'll happen to me.

"Tertiary: Introverted Sensing (Si): This function gives INFPs a "natural inclination toward absent-mindedness, and makes them more easily distracted." That's me. Inferior: Extroverted Thinking (Te): This functions helps INFPs focus on external details, but being the inferior function requires the expenditure of energy, so it's not often used." Sounds just like me. (This is from wikipedia) And I don't like conflict.

Raisin on August 9, 2007 12:14 PM
knew i was an infp, always get this one. it always amazes me no matter how detailed or simple the questions are. Also astounds me how accurate the description is. It makes me kind of sad though, assuming everyone finds a personality type that matches them, that there's only 16 types of personalitys in the entire world of billions of people.
Bel on September 2, 2007 12:24 AM
Yep. This type is definitely me. And when I checked the careers that are right for me, I loved what I read: teacher/professor, writer, counselor, musician, psycologist. Seriously, I wanted those jobs since I was really little. And, man, do I love the description! Perfect! Anyway, I took this on humanmetrics.com and got the same thing. :) And I had to take the test for homework, so I'm glad my teacher assigned us this homework. XD

After taking the Meyers-Briggs with a career counselor, I found out I was an INFP, and it all became very clear to me. After doing lots of research on my type, I find the most challenging part for me in terms of growth is to develop the Extravert Intuition and Sensation. It's really hard for us to detach from our Introvert Feeling and Intuition. We hope for the world to gravitate to our values and ideals, which I can't blame us. But sometimes, I wake up every morning with so many ideas, and after thinking about it all what I'm really trying to do is try to bottle some situation that will hold an ideal feeling of happiness or hope for some recogniton. Then again, I don't do well with accepting compliments either because we're so ideal even beyond ourselves. We think about how the person is complimenting us. Why are they truly complimenting us? Me? I'm acutally good? o.k.? no....I'm not even close to the ideal me, yet. Crazy? Huh? It's so hard for me not to be obsessive, and to accept things as they are, face value, like my wife and the rest of the logic-sensate majority of the world. I always have to look for the deep bottom underlying meaning. There's a great book called, "Mindfulness in Plain English." It's taught me a lot about my obsessive nature, and how to look at things with more of a detached awareness, like an observer who sees things as they are with no opinions or judgements. It's like seeing the reaction without being in the reaction. Observing our internal world and the external world without clamping down on it with our introvert feeling values/ideals, thoughts, or perceptions, etc. Easy for INFP's. Ha...right. It's a long life process. Mindfulness is tricky, because when we learn something new we use words or phrases (left brain) to remind us to stay focused. This defeats the purpose. Mindfulness is very light(pre-conceptual), the lighter your mental state or attitude the better, and this I found helps me with accepting reality through my extravert sensation. Boy, sometimes I feel like a cave man lost in time. The other hard challenge I have is when it comes to dealing with others. Becuase I'm so perceptive and aware of all the possiblities and need time to decide or just don't want to decide, I end up pleasing someone else. Most people are apathetic and indifferent to your effort, anyway. So, I avoid conflict, but feel miserable in the end for having been overly obsessive and pleasing. I wish I could find a job where I can develop my extravert sensation, hands-on. The less thinking, the better. I'm on a one year leave right now after six years of teaching elementary school. I'm burnt. It's nice to be Mr. Mom at home with my two boys, and yes things are very tight financially, but I need a change. It took me a long time to admit that, to admit that I actually have a say about me. Well being raised as a Catholic didn't give me much say. (Morrissey: I Have Forgiven Jesus) I was tired of doing too good of a job, pleasing others, going unnoticed, being obsessed for days with other people's criticisms or confrontations, while the world goes on its merry way, and I'm left with an imaginary movie in my head of what I really think of the world or what I truly should of said. Ever feel like George Costanza (sorry for sp.) in that episode of Seinfeld when he knows exactly what to say to the other person after the other person has said something rude to him and has left. Any way this is so typical of me, see?, obssessive rambling. I'm gonna take the boys out for a walk. See Ya Later

I identify with the description to a huge degree. I find myself constantly struggling to fit in with the rest of the world and failing. By this I mean trying to find enough reason to work and convince myself to compromise my extreme idealistic values and morals just to get along. This creates huge saddness and dissappointment. Im a visual art student and hope to be a proffessional artist. I hope to find a way where my spotaneous innovation can be usefull to society, or even for it to fit in with its structures and realities would be good. I feel like ive come from another planet or something, or im some sort of mutant and the universe is laughing at me. My INFP nature creates huge probs with my boyfriend as well. If only ppl could see the beauty i can concieve in my head, my best bet is to learn to paint it, or write it down. I guess thats where career suggestions of artist and poet come from.

INFP... It explains so much to me, yet is rather depressing at the same time to be so easily categorized. This is completely me though. Haha. I like how each person has their own input that seems so different from one another's, yet I can relate to each. Maybe that is part of the identity crisis that is seemingly an ongoing conflict in the INFP personality type? As of now, I'm in a reflective mood, so perhaps that is why my blogging is reflecting that at the moment... Not to go on a rant or anything :3
Carrie on May 21, 2009 06:37 PM
i like being an INFP but it makes me really hard to understand, so really deep relationships are impossible because the confusingness isn't fun once the other person is done with the getting to know you of the beginings. i normally feel pretty lonely without actually wanting to be social, i think it's the lack of being able to share my feelings with people in general.

I've always known I was weird. I've always known I don't quite fit. I've always known the eyes that look me down. I've always known the cold of the being on the outside. But until now, I know and understand I am an Introvert, I know and understand I am Intuitive, I know and understand I have feeling, I know and understand that I prefer to perceive. I am proud that I can see wonder in the things that no one else see, I am proud to see hope in the hopeless, I am proud that my enemies are not my hatred, but my pity, I am proud that my inferiority finds peace in the peace I make, I am proud that my ideals and values drive me to the very end. I am proud that I am a rare find, only one percent of all. I am proud, to be INFP.
